L'OCCITANE Foundation

In 2006, L’OCCITANE created its corporate foundation. The projects supported by the L’OCCITANE Foundation are inspired by the sponsorship activities undertaken by the company since its creation. The role of the Foundation is to select, finance and encourage the development of solidarity projects.
The creation of this Foundation with an allocation of 3 millions euros illustrates the philanthropic commitment of the company.
The Foundation chooses finances and assists the project holders in their development, by following three main missions:

• Support the visually impaired

Since 1997, L’OCCITANE develop its products’ packaging in Braille to facilitate daily life of the visually impaired.
To be coherent with the involvement of the company, the Foundation supports projects that facilitate the professional integration of the visually-impaired in France, through for example the establishment of professional training.
But it gets involved too in the fight against avoidable blindness (75% cases of blindness in the world) in Burkina Faso and Bangladesh, via some actions of prevention, sensitization and treatment.

• Encourage the economic emancipation of women

Since 1989, L’OCCITANE does co-development with more than 11 000 women in Burkina Faso with the shea butter trade.
To go further, the Foundation in the improvement of the living conditions of these women, the Foundation follow them toward their independence by supporting projects in education, entrepreneurship and professional training in Burkina Faso.

• Preserve “the knowledge of nature”

L’OCCITANE develops its products by respecting both people and nature.
The Foundation concretizes this commitment of preservation by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge about plants, traditions and ethnobotanical know-how.
The Foundation focuses its operations in France, Burkina Faso, Bangladesh and Brazil.
