Caring for sensitive under-eye skin

Your eyes can be your biggest beauty asset. However, the delicate skin under your eyes can be one of the first places to show signs of ageing as well as stress and fatigue. A few simple techniques can help you glow with youth.

Why does under-eye skin require special care?

Skin under the eyes is much thinner than skin on the rest of the face and more sensitive to harsh chemicals, UV rays, and the environment. It also thins faster than other skin. Because thin skin loses its elasticity more quickly, the skin under the eyes is one of the first places to show signs of ageing. As a result, under-eye contour requires particular care and attention.

A Massage ritual to stimulate the eyes

Lightly massaging the pressure points around the eye can improve the effectiveness of your eye care

Daily decongestion ritual: perform this massage in the morning before applying Divine Eyes to increase its effectiveness. Start at the inner eyebrow and move outwards, and then do so again from the inner eye moving outwards.

Apply a  cool compress. You want something that is cool to the touch but not overly cold. Lie down on your back and cover your eyes with cool wet tea bags or cucumber slices, which contain antioxidants that reduce irritation.

Calm tired, puffy eyes with a Chamomile tea remedy. Boil chamomile flowers with purified tap water. Strain and put the tea in the refrigerator until cold. Soak cotton wool pads in the cooled tea and place over the eye area for 15 minutes while lying down to soothe the eyes.

Apply a cool spoon. To quickly reduce swelling, gently massage the under eye area with a spoon cooled in the freezer.

Golden rules to take care of the skin under your eyes

1 - Use products made specifically for eye skin
2 - Use cotton balls when removing eye make-up to avoid excess tugging and pulling. 
3 - Wear large sunglasses that protect both your eyes and the skin around them
4 - Drink eight to ten 8 oz. glasses of water per day
5 - Drink fresh juice made from a combination of celery, lemon, spinach and cucumber. Reduce your salt intake.
6 - Get plenty of rest and elevate your head while sleeping !
