"What makes me smile as a mother? My boys' love, because they love in a way that is pure and untainted.
They're at that amazing age where they've not yet learned to stifle or control their emotions. They're open and honest with their love and when they say, ' I love you', you know they really mean it.
Their kisses too, boy, do they make me smile. My littlest always grabs my face, looks me straight in the eyes and slams those kisses right on me. Filled with so much love, albeit a little drool and snot thrown in there too! They literally fill my heart right up.
I always remind myself of these very facts on those tough days, the days when I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle. When kisses and hugs are swapped for tears and tantrums, and you feel like you are failing. Our life isn't perfect but there is so much love in our family, and if that can always remain, well that's a win in my book.
As I look in the mirror and watch my face change and age, rather than feel negative, I try to feel pride. To own those laughter lines around my eyes because those lines are born out of love. Those lines come from the laughter and smiles that my boys have brought me in abundance."
