“First up, lifestyle of course plays a big factor in your skin's health. Low humidity, dry heated air, lack of water intake, and external aggressors can all play a part in making your skin look a little dull, uneven, and textured. Whatever your external habits, ensure you counter-act them – for example, if you like to have your heating on high, make sure you’re keeping your skin moisturised. If you are very active, then drinking plenty of water is vital to replace the fluids you’re losing in sweat, which in turn will reduce enlarged pores. No matter what your lifestyle entails, make sure you bear in mind the basics in protecting your skin.”

Taking care of your skin starts with how you shower. Our L'OCCITANE experts recommend showering under warm water instead of hot, as hot showers can strip the skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry and irritated. A good practice is checking the water temperature with your wrist to ensure it's comfortably warm. “Now when it comes to your beauty products, it’s important to choose a routine you will easily make a habit of. Constantly changing your beauty routine or products can actually irritate your skin. With this in mind, I am going to talk you through the products that I personally find to be the crème de la crème in achieving great skin, an even skin tone, minimised pores, and help you achieve glowing skin, and then it’s up to you how many you incorporate into your daily routine!”

1. Double-Cleanse for a Deeper Clean

The first and most important step is always to cleanse properly. For make-up and SPF wearers, a ‘double-cleanse’ is recommended, which means first using a gentle make-up remover such as our Cleansing Milk Facial Make-up Remover (infused with honey and fig milk) or our lmmortelle Precious Cleansing Oil if you prefer an oily texture. As your second step, either repeat using the same cleanser, or use a separate gel-based cleanser if your skin is on the combination/oily side, such as my personal favourite the Aqua Réotier Water Gel Cleanser, which provides a refreshing burst of hydration that leaves your skin feeling comfortable, clean, and fresh.
