L'Occitane x The Great British Beauty Clean Up

This March, L’Occitane en Provence is proud to join The Great British Beauty Clean Up Campaign. We're working with the Sustainable Beauty Coalition alongside leading retailers and beauty brands, aiming to significantly reduce the waste created by the Beauty Industry and to inspire customers to be a force for positive change.

The beauty industry generates an enormous 120 billion units of packaging globally* - a third of all waste - 86% of plastic beauty packaging is not recycled.**

The Great British Beauty Clean Up is set to focus on increasing industry and consumer awareness and adoption of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, as well as increasing recycling rates of beauty empties through take-back schemes and household recycling where available.

Another main challenge is to raise awareness that 56% of people do not recycle empties placed in their bathroom bins (currently the least sustainably disposed products in the household).

One of the focuses of The Great British Beauty Clean Up is to promote the Sustainable Beauty Coalition’s map to pin-point exactly where British public can return their beauty empties, including all L’Occitane Boutiques. The initiative also aims to help customers to learn what needs to be taken to a ‘take back scheme’ (hard-to-recycle beauty, healthcare and wellness products), and what people can put in their normal recycling bins.

Our Mission As A Brand

By 2025, 100% of our bottles will be made from 100% recycled plastic, and 100% of our owned boutiques will offer a recycling service.
