Karité trees are scattered across the landscape of Burkina Faso, where the hot harmattan wind blows down from the Sahara during the dry season. To protect against this arid climate, locals use the rich Shea butter extracted from the tree nuts – and have done for generations. It soothes, protects and moisturises their skin and hair even in the driest conditions.
The exceptional qualities of this unique African nut simply can't be denied. Our founder Olivier Baussan met with the female Shea farmers of Burkina Faso back in 1982 and right away, a beautiful relationship was born – making them the first of our suppliers outside of our region. Working alongside them, we've built a supply chain that's fair and sustainable, and protects their traditional farming methods. In return, we have access to some of the finest Shea butter and use it to enrich our products with luscious, buttery hydration.
This intensively moisturising collection is designed with sensitive and dry skin in mind, to give it extra nourishment during harsh winters and dry summers. Shea butter is rich in vitamin A and fatty acids and has anti-inflammatory properties. We’ve harnessed these qualities to produce a range packed with creams that can leave hands, feet and faces feeling supple and youthful.
