SHEA BUTTER

Karité trees are scattered across the landscape of Burkina Faso, where the hot harmattan wind blows down from the Sahara during the dry season. To protect against this arid climate, locals use the rich Shea butter extracted from the tree nuts – and have done for generations. It soothes, protects and moisturises their skin and hair even in the driest conditions. The exceptional qualities of this unique African nut simply can't be denied. Our founder Olivier Baussan met with the female Shea farmers of Burkina Faso back in 1982 and right away, a beautiful relationship was born – making them the first of our suppliers outside of our region. Working alongside them, we've built a supply chain that's fair and sustainable, and protects their traditional farming methods. In return, we have access to some of the finest Shea butter and use it to enrich our products with luscious, buttery hydration. This intensively moisturising collection is designed with sensitive and dry skin in mind, to give it extra nourishment during harsh winters and dry summers. Shea butter is rich in vitamin A and fatty acids and has anti-inflammatory properties. We’ve harnessed these qualities to produce a range packed with creams that can leave hands, feet and faces feeling supple and youthful.   Shea Butter

  • My Go-To Cleanser

I have very dry, sensitive skin that used to constantly break out. I have used various cleansers over time and finally switched from Micellar water to "milky" cleansers early last year. I initially used a Chanel one that was great but the price point was just way too high. When I found this one from L'Occitane I was over the moon. It is as kind on my skin as the Chanel one at half the price, and leaves my usually dry skin feeling silky smooth. I currently use it in conjunction with a L'Occitane toner, Glossier serums and Charlotte Tilbury moisturiser and all of these have my skin looking healthier and clearer than it's looked since I was a pre-teen. Having this as the base layer to get all my make-up off (and the grime of city living) is the perfect start to a cleansing routine. My only complaint is that L'Occitane discontinued the matching toner - I loved that toner! I'm trying out a few different L'Occitane ones currently, but have yet to find one that is as kind to my skin as this one was.

  • Ok but not great for me

I have normal to dry sensitive skin. I did not experience any sensitivity issues with the product, but found it left my skin quite dry and flaky. It might suit me better during the warmer months when my skin tends to be less dry. But for now, not for me.

  • Have come back to L'Occitane

I switched to L'Occitane (from Clinique) in 2006 and then went through a phase of trying all the big brands.. elemis, lancome, creme de la mer etc.. I am back and this cleansing milk is by far the best cleanser I have used. In comparison to water based cleansers this leaves my skin feeling so soft and clean and I also find that by leaving it on my bedside locker I am more inclined to use it at night as its so easy to put on.. I can see the difference since starting again in Jan 17.. love it
