The Art of Beauty Sleep

IT'S ALL ABOUT SLEEP

Our busy modern lives are full of stress, pollution, occasional ‘slips’ in healthy diet and constant levels of fatigue. We are living increasingly more demanding lives and sleeping a whole two hours less each night compared to the 1960s. As a result, skin fatigue is more common and a primary concern. Sleep is essential to skin repair, here are some tips to make the most of your sleep.

The Culprits

ENVIRONMENTAL AGGRESSORS ARE DAMAGING SKIN

Many environmental agressors are damaging your skin every day, such as stress, pollution or blue light from screens. Studies have shown that environmental factors can aggravate visible signs of ageing and even affect your genes.

How To Get Rid of Tired Looking Skin

Tired skin vs. sleep

Dark circles, dry and dull skin, fine lines, reduced elasticity, stress lines: your skin always shows it when you're tired. But did you know that poor sleepers also have a slower recovery from environmental factors? And that's because a good night's sleep is essential for the growth and renewal of the body's immune and physiological systmens. There's a reason they call it beauty sleep.

Night Time is the Right Time

WHAT HAPPENS TO SKIN AT NIGHT?

There are two important phases for skin recovery. The evening phase (9-11 pm): when skin’s epidermal barrier function is less optimal meaning that skin can be penetrated more easily and is more receptive to treatments. This is the best time to use any nutrient-rich creams, serums or oils. The night phase (11 pm-6 am) is when skin renews itself – new cells replace dead or aged cells. It’s the time for the highest cell proliferation and DNA repair.

OUR EXPERT ROUTINE

1. Start by opening your third eye: use your middle and ring fingers in an anti-clockwise circular motion.
2 & 3. Apply three pumps of Overnight Reset Serum to gently massage your cheeks upwards with your palms, and your forehead from the center of your face to the outside.
4 & 5. Complete this sensorial experience by using Lavender Essential Oil. Breathe deeply and let the scent carry you away, massage the oil into pressure points around your face (ears, hairline).
6. Finish off by closing your energy point in a clockwise circular motion.

Good night!
