What are the causes and consequences of dry skin?

Dry to very dry skin is characterised by dry patches on the cheeks or forehead, tightness and sometimes peeling. It often feels rough to the touch, is more sensitive, and expression lines appear more easily. These effects are intensified by winter cold and wind, but also by sun, pollution and heating. Dry skin, which is a skin type, can be influenced by hormones or age. It should not be confused with dehydrated skin : the first lacks of lipids, while the second lacks water.
Dry skin has low sebum production, which weakens the skin barrier. In addition to good hydration, it needs lipid nourishment through suitable nourishing creams or oils, to restore comfort, suppleness and softness every day.

Dry skin: what can you do?

Adopting a suitable skincare ritual is essential to restore comfort to dry skin and strengthen the skin barrier over time. Here are the key steps:

-Make-up remover / Facial cleanser : choose gentle, nourishing formulas enriched with Shea butter to cleanse without altering the hydrolipidic film.
-Serum : apply a concentrated serum before your cream to reinforce hydration and support skin regeneration.
-Moisturising face cream : essential for dry skin, it provides lipids and comfort. Use a protective day cream and a richer night cream.

-Nourishing mask : once or twice a week, it immediately soothes tightness, intensely nourishes and restores suppleness and softness.

This skincare ritual helps preserve hydration, improve suppleness and limit feelings of discomfort every day.
